It was with great sadness that we learnt that the former 1st Littleham Scout Leader John Upton passed away in December 2025 at the age of 87.

John dedicated almost 40 years to the young people of Littleham and Exmouth in his Scouting roles with 1st Littleham. Known to all those who benefited from his leadership as “Skip” he was well known for having that thing you needed on camp either in his pocket or in his car!

As well as his dedication for Scouting, John was also a Trustee of the Pain Adventure Trust for 23 years.

Thank you John for your years of dedication to Scouting. Whilst you have now “gone home”, your legacy lives on through those who you dedicated your time to.

A death notice published by John’s family in the Exmouth Journal, which includes details of his funeral, can be viewed here
