Westpoint Woggle was held over the weekend of 25th - 27th June 2010 and was the largest Scout camping event that the Exmouth & Budleigh Salterton Scout District has ever held. Westpoint Woggle provided the opportunity for all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers from the ExBud District to take part in their own locally organised Jamboree.
As well as camping under canvas for 2 nights, the 200 participants, aged from 6 to 18 took part in over 35 different activities ranging from Arts & Crafts to Fire Lighting, Branding, High Ropes, Rafting, Bushcraft and Archery, as well as District Football and Tug o' War competitions. The young people also enjoyed visits from the Police Helicopter, Dog Handler and Armed Response Unit.
Events such as Westpoint Woggle enable the young people to participate in adventurous activities, try new activities, make new friends and gain experiences they can't gain elsewhere. It also integrates the four different sections of Scouting - Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers - and enables the young people to see what they'd be likely to experience when they move up to the next section.
Westpoint Woggle was supported by over 50 adult volunteers, including for the first time, Parents of the Scouts. We have also been fortunate enough to be supported by various businesses including Westpoint, Dairy Crest, Yoplait, Original Style, Knobblies, Makro, Lidl, Calor, Moores Pasties, Winterwood and Concept Martial Arts.
Scouting within our District would not be possible without the dedicated help of our volunteer Scout Leaders and Active Support Members. In order to continue to deliver such a wide range of adventurous activities for Young People we would like to hear from anyone who would be willing to help with Scouting in Exmouth, Budleigh, Woodbury, Lympstone or Otterton.
