Explorer Scouts

Explorer Scouts (ages 14-17)

If you’re 14 to 18 and want to enjoy Scouting you can do so by joining Explorer Scouting. As an Explorer Scout you get to take part in all the usual great Scouting activities such as kayaking, climbing, orienteering… as well as work on projects helping to support your local community.

You can also, if you choose, get more closely involved in working with the younger Sections as a Young Leader.

The Exmouth & Budleigh Salterton Explorer Scout Unit was formed in September 2002. Since it’s formation the Unit has gone from strength to strength. A regular crowd of Young Men and Women meet on Monday evenings and get involved in many activities ranging from weekends away with Explorers from other parts of the UK, to building and running Assault Courses for the local Scout and Cub Sections.

What ExBud Explorers get up to

In August 2013, the ExBud Explorers successfully climbed the Three Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) during their summer camp! See the ExBud Explorers website for photos!

In 2012 the ExBud Explorers went to France, in 2011 to Jersey, 2010 to the Lake District, and in 2009 they went to Namibia where they built a playpark for a local school! Other previous trips include Scotland in 2008, France in 2007 and 2004, Ireland in 2006 and Jersey in 2005.

In addition to going on their own camps, the ExBud Explorer Unit helps out at the Annual District Scout Camp of Woodjam
