Explorer Scouts (ages 14-18 years)

If you're 14 to 18 and want to enjoy Scouting you can do so by joining Explorer Scouting. As an Explorer Scout you get to take part in all the usual great Scouting activities such as kayaking, climbing, orienteering... as well as work on projects helping to support your local community.

You can also, if you choose, get more closely involved in working with the younger Sections as a Young Leader.

The Exmouth & Budleigh Salterton Explorer Scout Unit was formed in September 2002. Since it's formation the Unit has gone from strength to strength. A regular crowd of Young Men and Women meet on Monday evenings and get involved in many activities ranging from weekends away with Explorers from other parts of the UK, to building and running Assault Courses for the local Scout and Cub Sections.

What ExBud Explorers get up to

In August 2011, the ExBud Explorers returned from their Annual Summer Jaunt, this time to Jersey. Activities included coasteering, climbing, blow-karting, sea kayaking and cycling! In 2010 the ExBud Explorers went the Lake District, and in 2009 they went to Namibia where they built a playpark for a local school! Other previous trips include Scotland in 2008, France in 2007 and 2004, Ireland in 2006 and Jersey in 2005.

In addition to going on their own camps, the ExBud Explorer Unit helps out at the Annual District Scout Camp of Woodjam
